That came unexpected: In a simple Twitter notification, the Finnish Studio Remedy announced the return of Max Payne. Both the first part Max Payne (2001) and the successor Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne (2003) are newly developed as complete remakes **. Both games are to be bundled to a single title. This renew Remedy and Publisher Rockstar Games their business relationships, who began 21 years ago with the first Max Payne. “We were excited when our old friends of Remedy made the proposal to develop Remakes of the original Max Payne games,” says Sam Houser, co-founder and president of Rockstar Games, in a public communication. “We are huge fans of what Remedy has created over the years, and can not wait to play these new versions [from Max Payne].” Also Tero Virtala, the CEO of Remedy, speaks itself: “Max Payne always had a special place in our hearts here at Remedy. And we know that millions of fans feel the same. We are scary, again with our partners To work with Rockstar Games to bring back the story, action and atmosphere of the original Max Payne games to a new way. “
The remakes of Max Payne 1 & 2 are developed for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S / X. Both games are bundled to a complete work, so a big title appears instead of two individual remakes. Remedy uses its own Northlight Engine for the development that was already used in games such as Quantum Break or Control. The announced Alan Wake 2 is also based on the Northlight Engine. The budget should correspond to a typical AAA production of Remedy, the financing takes over Rockstar Games.
_ Note: So far, there is no picture material to the remakes, the project is still in the concept phase. All screenshots from this news come from the three original games._
