Erling Haaland leaves BVB in the direction of Manchester City after two and a half years. Despite the five -year contract, the Norwegian in England is apparently not certain.
Erling Haaland is pursuing a clear career plan: after his professional debut in Norway for Moldde FK and a year at RB Salzburg in Austria, the goalkeeper decided to move to Borussia Dortmund in January 2020. The district club has also developed an excellent reputation as a training association internationally.
At BVB, it was clear from the start that Haaland was only a guest at the intermediate station. In order to convince the 21-year-old from a transfer to the Ruhr area two and a half years ago, the club had to assure him of an exit clause. In turn, the Dortmunders had been able to hire Haaland from Salzburg for the fixed sum of 20 million euros.
Now Manchester City used an exit clause, according to English reports, it is less than 60 million euros less than previously assumed. So far, there was talk of 75 million euros in German media.
Raiola is said to have negotiated exit clause
As “BILD” reports, the Citizens could not avoid giving Haaland a clause for early farewell. Accordingly, this will take place in two years. The recently deceased player advisor Mino Raiola is said to have negotiated that contract detail with the English. The alleged price for Haaland in the summer of 2024: 150 million euros.
The exit clause is particularly explosive against the background that Haaland is said to have allegedly flirted with a move to Real Madrid until his signature in Manchester. According to Spanish reports, the royal ones ultimately refrained from an obligation.
In Karim Benzema, who still has a contract until 2023, the Spanish champion already has a world-class striker. In Kylian Mbappé, a second superstar for the offensive in summer is to be added.
It is therefore possible that Haaland will keep a later move to Spain through the exit clause. First of all, on July 1st, he competes with Manchester City. The club from the northwest of England reports to its new top earner.
